About the Flat Fee MLS Marketing Blog

This blog was inspired by the lack of information available on Flat Fee MLS services. These services present a unique halfway point between traditional For Sale By Owner home sales and Agent Listings.

In the past there was typically two agents involved in every transaction with a typical commission of 6%. With a flat fee MLS listing service you will almost cut that in half, as you will typically pay 1-3% commission to the buyer’s agent, plus a nominal sum of a few hundred dollars to the flat fee listing agent in order to gain the MLS marketing exposure.

Depending on your degree of market savvy, and your negotiation skills, this has the potential to save you thousand of dollars on the sale of your home!

Of course, if you do decide to get the route of using a Flat Fee MLS service, you will be doing much of the extra work that would otherwise by handled by a listing agent, such as showing the house, reviewing contracts, arranging and meeting with inspectors and appraisers, and lots and lots of paperwork. In this regard, it is similar to selling For Sale By Owner, but you may be able to get a higher price due to the additional marketing exposure.
